[ Instrument Network Instrument R & D ] Recently, Yu Xuefeng, a researcher at the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Huang Yifan, a senior engineer, have made new breakthroughs in the field of high-quality black phosphene production. "Liquid technology" is published in the form of a newsletter in the international chemical journal Chemical Communications. The first author of the paper is Huang Hao, an assistant researcher, and the co-first author is Dr. Kang Yihong. The collaborators include Professor Zhu Jianhao, and Professor Ricardo Ibarra of the Aragon Nanoscience Institute in Spain.
As a direct band gap semiconductor two-dimensional layered material with adjustable band gap, black phosphene has great application potential in the field of optical / electronic devices. At present, the main method for the preparation of black phosphene is liquid phase shearing / ultrasonic peeling, but the Young's modulus of black phosphorus itself is small. Long-term shearing / ultrasonication will lead to smaller phosphorous sheet and more defects. Oxidation occurs, which limits the use of melphane. Therefore, the development of an efficient method for the preparation of high-quality large-sized black phosphene is essential for the application of black phosphene. Unlike solids, liquids, and gases, plasma is composed of a collection of ions, electrons, and non-ionized neutral particles. It has a neutral state of matter as a whole, and is also known as the "fourth state of matter." As a green industrial technology, plasma technology has been widely used in the fields of material surface treatment, nanomaterial synthesis, and semiconductor manufacturing. However, the technical route of preparing black phosphene by plasma technology has not been reported.
In the early stage, the team did a lot in the liquid phase ultrasonic preparation of black phosphene (Advanced Functional Materials 25 (45), 6996-7002) and ion intercalation (Small Methods, 1900083; Materials Horizons 6 (1), 176-181) jobs. In this work, based on many years of experience in the preparation of black phosphene and the characteristics of plasma technology, the team independently designed a plasma liquid phase preparation system, including a power module and a reaction module. A high-voltage power supply generates a plasma at the anode, which acts on the N, N-dimethylformamide solvent. The active particles in the plasma decompose the N, N-dimethylformamide molecules, and the decomposition products are driven against the cathode by an electric field. Phosphorus crystals are intercalated, and at the same time, gas is generated between the layers, which weakens the interlayer force, so that the black phosphorus crystals rapidly expand, thereby efficiently preparing high-quality large-size black phosphene. At the same time, due to the short preparation time, the phosphene prepared by this method has a low degree of oxidation and exhibits excellent photoelectric response properties, which lays a foundation for the application of black phosphene as a high-performance electronic material.
